Interior Inspiration
Harvey’s interior is in totally liveable condition. But I want to bring back a little of the flavor of the original Palm Beach, while brightening things up a bit. Harvey’s upholstery has already been replaced with something more neutral, and its in pretty good condition now that it has been steam cleaned. Even if I wanted the original plaid (I might), I am sure I could never find something similar. Reupholstery isn’t in the budget anyway. So, I will stick with what I can do myself and what I can afford: window treatments all around, carpet in the cockpit (the cabin has already been done in laminate), countertop, backsplash, and refrigerator panel.
Here is the original interior design board for the Palm Beach:
Here are some of my choices with a picture of Harvey’s current interior:
The two large fabric swatches are “Hazy Days Citron” by HGTV and “Square Pegs Kiwi” by Robert Allen. Hazy Days will be for curtains in the cockpit and bedroom. Square Pegs for Roman shades over the sofa, dinette, and sink. The white carrera laminate is my choice for the countertop. I’ll use the mustard chevron peel-n-stick wallpaper from Spoonflower on the backsplash and to cover the door of the refrigerator. I’m still working on carpet for the cockpit. The two swatches on the top right are my favorite so far. I would love to get my hands on some of the original green shag!
Eric has his own list of mechanical “renovations” so we’ll have to sort out the timeline and budget. My bet is that I can get the whole interior done for under $500. Watch for updates!
